So sleek my hair, so soft my eyes!
Lad, take my hand and come with me
Into my hut where – what surprise! –
A hag and not a maid you see!

A spirit of the air am I –
Always quiet, very shy.
In shadow-places, moist and dank,
I may play a fairy prank.
Out of the corner of your eye
You may see me flutter by!

In a mine, deep underground,
Listen for the warning sound:
If my fairy drum you hear,
RUN! For danger may be near!

Magical, shape-changing fairies so rare!
Making mysterious mischief, we play
In ancient and colorful lands far away.
